Baat Chum Do – (8 Slash Knives)
Baat Chum Dao translates to “Eight Slash Knives” in Ving Tsun (Wing Chun) Kung Fu. The Baat Chum Dao form focuses on training with a pair of short butterfly knives, also known as double knives or butterfly swords.
The Baat Chum Dao form is an advanced component of Ving Tsun training, building upon the foundational techniques learned in the empty-hand forms. Practitioners learn to wield the butterfly knives with precision, speed, and fluidity. The form incorporates intricate footwork, striking, and blocking patterns specific to the use of the double knives.
The Baat Chum Dao form is considered an essential part of traditional Ving Tsun curriculum, helping students develop a well-rounded skill set that includes both empty-hand techniques and weapon training. It enhances coordination, reflexes, and the application of Ving Tsun principles in armed combat situations.
