2nd Form – Chum Kiu – “Bridge Seeking”
Chum Kiu is the second form. By the completion of the second form, students are starting to show confidence in dealing with both close ranged and long ranged hand attacks launched at random. At this point students are expected to start actively engaging their stances and applying more aggressive stepping onto their opponents. They will be familiar with the common chi sau and laap sau entries. They will be equipped to deal with them without resorting to brute strength, allowing their stance and their structure to deal with it. Proper kicking is also learned at this stage, and more emphasis is placed on anti—grapple techniques, and forward force.
