Ving Tsun Forms – South Coast Ving Tsun
Ving Tsun has 6 forms that make up the complete system. The system is mainly about promoting “empty hand” techniques, its not until the last two forms at the senior levels that any sort of ‘weapon” enter the system. The forms are taught as “CONCEPTS” – there’s a lot of detail and refinement in each of the concepts that make up the form.
It’s not a race to have all of the form, but to understand the concept and be able to apply it effectively. Whenever there’s a query about how to handle being attacked, the answer is most often found in the concepts in the forms.
The journey to develop incredible power and skill requires mastery of the Forms. The first form provides the basics, the second form builds on those basics and puts in some movement, the third form involves using the wooden dummy, the 4th form uses some “emergency” techniques, the 5th form uses a pole simplistically and effectively to defend yourself, with the last form for a Level 10 instructor and involves large butterfly knives/swords – this is really a symbolic gift more so a practical fighting form.
